World Bank report examines high-tech talent development and innovation capacity in Vietnam

High-tech industries need a larger talent pool and stronger research, laboratory management and application capabilities.

The World Bank’s September 2025 Viet Nam update addresses high-tech talent. Beyond more science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates, it calls for professionals to lead research, manage laboratories and bring products to market.

The report identifies room for greater public and private R&D investment in Vietnam. More doctoral-level teaching staff can help train advanced researchers.

Talent development should meet business needs. University–industry–government cooperation can improve graduate readiness, technology transfer and knowledge dissemination, connecting talent numbers, expertise and application within one development framework.
