UNDP highlights tailored support for the development of Vietnam's SMEs

The commentary examines matching finance, digital tools and skills services to company size and development stage.

Vietnamese SMEs have differing development needs. In a joint commentary on 5 August 2025, UNDP's representative in Vietnam and a leader of a relevant Ministry of Finance agency advocated support tailored to firm size, development stage and existing capabilities.

The article distinguishes the financing, land, staffing and service constraints of microbusinesses from those of larger firms. Digital platforms, accounting tools and skills training support basic operations; growing firms also need finance, market access and professional services. Linking business development to green and circular transitions, it calls for policies and services that address concrete business needs.
