AI quality-inspection pilot illustrates production improvements at a Vietnamese manufacturer

An AI pilot based on site assessment and process mapping explores how technology serves operational needs.

Vietnam's HITI reduced inspection time from 20 to 5 seconds and improved defect-detection accuracy from 95% to 99% in an AI visual-inspection pilot. The ILO published the case on 8 December 2025; the figures relate to that specific production trial.

Before deployment, the project team assessed the site and mapped workflows to select a solution suited to operations. Quality control was then reorganized around three technically skilled supervisors; seven other employees were retrained and moved to higher-value roles.

The case highlights job redesign, transparent communication and training. Systems still need staff experience, feedback and oversight; technical deployment and change management together help make efficiency gains sustainable.
