Vietnam's textile and garment sector forms skills working group to connect businesses and training providers

The sector working group uses practical cooperation projects to improve alignment between training and enterprise demand.

With ILO support, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association established a 19-member sector skills working group including businesses, universities, vocational institutions and sector trade-union representatives to strengthen enterprise–education cooperation.

The priority is reducing skills mismatch and improving relevant, quality training. Participants propose small but practical partnerships that involve businesses directly and connect training investment with operational performance.

The mechanism builds on sector skills research and strategic recommendations from 2023–2024. Becoming a sector skills council remains dependent on institutional and other conditions; its current task is turning cooperation recommendations into actionable work.
