Vietnam's business talent needs underline the importance of leadership and management skills

The economic report launch highlights management and leadership gaps and alignment between higher education and business needs.

At the 8 August 2022 economic update launch, the World Bank said knowledge- and productivity-led development requires new skills. Recruitment difficulties extend beyond technical roles to management and leadership.

Citing the 2019 skills and enterprise survey, the speech reported that 73% of sampled Vietnamese firms struggled to recruit leadership and management skills, and 68% technical job skills. These figures describe that survey sample.

The discussion extends to higher-education and vocational-training quality and scale. Wider access must accompany closer alignment with employers' needs so graduates and workers can perform technical, managerial and collaborative tasks.
