The World Bank's 'Vietnam's Future Jobs', published on 31 October 2018, examines trade shifts, knowledge-intensive industries, ageing and automation. New industries require not only new skills but different production processes and export models.
The report links three priorities: helping domestic SMEs grow into knowledge-intensive value-chain activities, improving traditional jobs including household businesses, and matching capable workers with suitable jobs.
Recommendations connect skills and employment through education, better job information and participation and mobility support. Business upgrading therefore requires coordinated staff development, job design and recruitment.
